A spokesman from the "Flat Galaxy Society" today issued a press release identifying a major geometric fallacy.

"Contemporary mathematics has for millennia made the mistake of considering vertical distance in it's models and calculations"

The FGS science teams are pioneering 2D space navigation, with deep space explorers describing all locations and courses using only time, and distance relative north and west of Sol. They have been met with stiff criticism from neighbouring factions in this unorthodox view, but insist the proof is clear.

"Our retinas are 2D, they show us a flat image, just because we have two eyes it turns those two images into the illusion of depth. Everything we look at is flat, we just look at it twice from two different places. We want to be precise, it is fundamental to our beliefs that we are accurate and make no assumptions about our galaxy simply by looking at the same thing from two places."
