Return from the Deep

A full 10 months after arriving at Beagle Point, I have landed at Explorer's Anchorage, the research station constructed during the expedition that this whole trip started off with. Most of these months spent alone in the black were fraught with the dreadful "space madness" that some commanders in long explorations find themselves in.

The Abyss was an especially harrowing trigger to this sickness as it is nothing but deep blackness and the possibility of being stranded with only the view of home from 50,000 light years. After finding a suitable planet to recharge on I landed and took a much needed vacation. Survival was not as challenging as one might expect from an unknown planet. There was enough nutrients that my ship could process the much needed for me and I spent my days in peace until the longing for the stars once again took me.

Instead of continuing an explorer's journey of trying to find something new I decided that I should set a course for home, by way of Sagittarius A*. I disregarded my original ideas I had when setting out from Kappa Fornacis of flying along the bottom of the galactic plane and instead I set a B-line course straight to my goal.

Along the way I found a Neutron superhighway to make my life easier and even took a few detours to investigate what looked to be planetary nebula.

Now that I have arrived at the station I think I will take some time to integrate into this small society before moving onto a larger one. I intend on taking a detour to Colonia as it is one area of the populated universe that I have yet to tour.

Crossing Lines

For the first time in my career as a Elite Commander I have finally crossed into a new region of space. as of 07:25 Galactic Standard time on 05 Feb 3305 I have crossed into the region of space known as the Inner Scutum-Centaurus Arm. This also marks my Odometer at 10,000ly from Sol.

I still am behind the Distance Worlds Fleet though. I caught up days ago, but my penchant for traveling lower in the galactic plane than the fleet keeps getting me behind. I have, however, been greeted with many undiscovered new worlds, including a terraformable water world at my current region crossing stop. I am finding solace in the fact that this has turned into a solo trip with vague crossing with the fleet. At least I am exploring, which is of course the most important part of this whole expedition.

Perhaps it will not be so long before my next new milestone.
