(Cobra Mk III)
I've decided to no longer post logbooks in EDSM because of the lack of interaction with the community.
New updates will now be posted in INARA, here.
Thanks for coming by.
Barry's Wonderland was a beautiful experience. I managed to capture good views from the shepherd moons lying there.
I started using EDDiscovery and EDDI as navigation support tools and they're simply outstanding. I'm still learning them, but the basic information and features had already changed the dynamic of my exploration routine. It's very impressing how data analysis automation makes the exploration tasks easier and improve the safety of the journey.
I've reached the system Eleven, for a quick nightly break. No 2G planets, as i was feeling very tired.
The 0.4G's crater was my choice. It took a while until i could land Orgun in its inner mountain, but it's a very malleable ship.
After my rest, i use EDDiscovery to help me define two new POIs among my next waypoint, Csi+50-22218, thus avoiding an extensive road of jumps.
Orgun's painting is really degraded. Its performance and responsiveness remains top-notch but it's no longer shiny, now the pictures exhibit the hardness that is to meet such distant bodies.
I've found a curious strip in a planet's surface
After further investigation, it proved to be a glitch in the planet texture. No Raxxla tips or weird bar codes for now.
Well, it's time for another break. Over 19kly until i reach the last waypoint. All this time-space shift is very tiring.
It's been exactly one month since i started my journey. How interesting. I was the guy that didn't understand how other explorers could stay months in space, yet there are a few POIs to visit and i'm 26kly from the Bubble.
The gaze of Angustia Trinity is very beautiful and peculiar:
But the trip here was very sterling. I've found bio signals in Byeia Thoea NA-A c0 13 B, which is a gas giant's satellite. This time it was over 1.2kls from its host star instead of ~12kls as in my previous expedition.
I also found a few ELW's:
An icy body with 4 million atmospheric pressure:
A planet that haven't decided what it will be (WW, HMC, ELW etc):
A moon very close to its gas giant host:
And many other terraformable bodies.
It was a productive, entertaining day. I just regret not repainting my ship before departuring Andromeda Calling.
My FSD repairs are done and Orgun is ready to his new destination, Bary's Wonderland. 2.3kly to go.
After many jumps i've reached the DSSA Andromeda Calling. The Neutron Highway is useful when crossing a huge distance with no known POI's and i've used it through 8.8kly, which saved me 30 jumps.
I spent the night in the DSSA and now i'm already on my way to Star One. It's about 2.2kly away and the star density is really noticeable. Automatic route plotting is not working beyond 1.2kly.
This is where the journey really begins and i'll be able to test Orgun's performance since the first mission we did in an outer galactic region.
The last 900ly from Star One seem dark, but you can still find plenty of light:
I've also built a route to help me back and other future commanders willing to reach it.
That's it, i've arrived and found a big surprise: it's an absolute monotony. Just 3 stars and nothing else. Of course the border of our galaxy will always be a beautiful sight, but this could've been obtained from systems closer to the Bubble.
Andromeda doesnt look any different from here.
It is a great frustration, but i knew it could be that bad. This is my second attempt to reach this system, something made me go back on the first. Maybe i stopped listening to my bright inner thoughts since then.
Nevertheless i was up for the challenge and it's beaten now. "The journey is more important than the destination" they say and they couldn't be more right.
Well.. time to head back to Andromeda Calling. A few cool POIs are still to be met in my way back to MelRose.
I've crossed both gaps of Perseus Arm and i'm in the Outter Arm now. It seems that replotting the route changing a few parameters helps to keep it optmized.
It's been some time since i wrote a log. I've already crossed The Temple and i'm almost reaching Iverness, just a few jumps. I'm currently making use of the waiting time in a 330kls trip to write this.
These two regions have a forgotten, obscure, unexplored feel surrounding it. I've first discovered many Neutron systems, some with more than one star, just next to my original route. Nothing very interesting happens here.
Removing some star classes from my route plotting actually reduced the 42 jump trip to 37. It is weird, i did not expect that. It might have helped the plotting computer to find some extra neutron stars.
I'm using these last jumps to gather some money from terraformable and other valuable celestial bodies. The weekly upkeep of my fleet carrier made me think twice about how rich i really am.
Iverness is the half way checkpoint into Star One, which will be the half of the journey.
Nothing but stars, jumps and more jumps. I made my first landing and normal flight after many thousand light years and it's actually pretty:
But it seems that all this time traveling above light speed is causing some collateral effects. Almost the entirety of today felt like a big dejavu.
===================
I'm very tired when Iverness's planetary nebula is finaly visible. The sight is incredible but i have no more energy to admire it today:
I continue my journey into the neverending, after visiting many systems and planetary nebulas between the Bubble and Colonia, the Conflux sites, mapping two GGGs in vain (the Canonn's DB already had them when i arrived), i start the intermediary phase of my expedition.
It'll be 12kly to the DSSA Iverness. I could visit the DSSA Paradox Destiny but it would add around 2 to 3kly in the road so i'll cross the Temple region in a straight line.
I accelerate my ship towards the 136 jumps.
