(Diamondback Explorer)
I bought a Beluga a few days ago, and decided a good shakedown cruise would be to take it to visit the newly discovered (only 2 days ago) generation ship - "Lycaon" in the Alaunus system.
The Beluga seems a fine ship for travelling, so long as you avoid the "mailslot". Somehow I launched and got out the mailslot the first time I undocked without touching the sides, but every single time since I've got tangled up and threatened by the station for blocking the entry.
So, I'm going to keep the Beluga for a special occasion - in a hangar on a planetary base! I think Wollheim's Inheritance will be a good place.
I'm back out visiting the Guardian Ruins. This time on Synuefe TP-F b44-0 CD 1.
It orbits a barycenter with its neighbouring CD 2, which is close enough for some spectacular views at the right time.
Got the mission-runner Python down onto Skardee 1. Cooked things a bit, but as soon as I dropped out of supercruise things rapidly cooled down to stabilise at 50% with almost everything turned off once I'd landed. I noticed that with all pips to engines they ran noticeably cooler.
Getting off was a different matter: 215% heat and quite a bit of damage.

Missed out on the flying an SRV into orbit bit. Lots of canisters scattered about the mountain. Very rugged.
An extra waypoint, #24, was added to the Distant Worlds Expedition. A reunion meetup was held on Mitterand Hollow, about 80km from Barcelo Colony at -72.10/74.10 "Reunion Landing".
I've arrived early and it seems no-one is here yet...
Mitterand Hollow is famous for being a body that orbits its parent faster than you can keep up in supercruise. It's easier to park your ship in the path of the moon and wait for it to come to you.
A second crashed Thargoid ship has been found by Cmdr Denneb. It's on HIP 17862 6 c a at 30.34/-98.58.
The third crashed Thargoid is on nearby HIP 17403 A 4 a at -34.98/-141.41 in the center of a crater.
This one is different - it has the remains of crashed human ships around it.
Here I'm driving my SRV over an Anaconda in the foreground. In the middle background is the crashed Thargoid. To the left is a T9 wedged into the side of the mountain. To the right is another T9. Behind that are several ships of other sight-seeing commanders.
I've not often been this close to a T9.
When viewed from a distance, the crash site at the bottom of a crater seems even more sad and lonely.
I've heard about Dav's Hope (Hyades Sector DR-V c2-23 A 5 at 44.818/-31.389), but never been there. It's apparently one of the best spots to pick up manufactured materials if you're prepared to relog over and over, but it really sounds a bit like cheating to me.
Still, worth a visit to pick up what's there and read the logs about the mining "accident". You don't have to do the relog dance...
Ancient ruins have been discovered! They were found on Synuefe XR-H d11-102 1 b at -31.7877/-128.9711.
When I got there the local star was right on the horizon, usually the best time for good photos, but this time it was a bit dark.
I can't remember exactly where I was when I took this, but I'm pretty sure it was one of those "scan some base data points and get data materials" sort of thing.
I left my Python parked some distance away for a getaway without it being too close to base defences. It won't be targeted until I actually dock the SRV back into it, but the further away the better. Behind a hill would be best.
I'm writing up this Logbook entry years later, but from memory this was one of those random missions that would turn up in your inbox with co-ordinates on a moon to go visit.
I can't remember where this was and it doesn't really seem to line up with anything in my Flight Logs.
