Deciat to the Coalsack Nebula via HIP 63835; Part 4

It has been a few days since I last got on for a session but the Corvid flies once more, this time I'm hopeful I can reach HIP 63835 (26 jumps remaining) as I have extra time. If I don't reach it today then hopefully tomorrow.

The first system I jump to is Col 285 sector XE-Q D5-174 and I am greeted by a beautiful sight of a class F star with a class M right beside it, I scan the system and find two more stars, a class K and another (larger) class M. I take a quick look and continue onwards.

Two jumps ahead in Col 285 sector SY-H C10-5 I see a massive gas giant on the system map so I decide to do an FSS scan. The massive gas giant has water based life and there is another that orbits between two of the stars that has a sky blue colouration but nothing else special. I took some nice screenshots at the giant with water life and was planning on going to the other gas giant but it was over 15,000ls away and I had learned my lesson from last time so I headed back to the main star to fuel scoop and carry on.

I continued on, I landed on a high metal content world in one system and fuel scooped in the next. I saw two cool looking purple gas giants in back to back systems, nothing worth further investigation but nice none the less. I fuel scooped in the system with the second purple gas giant, I checked the map and I had 17 jumps remaining to my first target. I was checking out a system with 4 gas giants and found yet another gas giant with ammonia life, these things are more common than I realised. And there's another one, in the very next system, I decided to fuel scoop here as the next and previous jumps were both quite fuel intensive.

I continued jumping, honking, checking the system map for anything interesting and scooping. Now only 13 jumps away my target was within sight.

The HR-4771 system had a nice class A star, two water worlds and two nice gas giants.

After a few more jumps I was into the Wregoe sector with 6 jumps remaining.

Finally I saw it, HIP 63835, with a glowing halo around it that had attracted me to it on the galactic map. I charged my final jump to the system. I had made it, I was confronted by a massive Class O star, the system map was a confusing jumble of star but I was relieved to see some fleet carriers where I could hopefully dock and sell my data. I scanned all the bodies and then fuel scooped and went to a tourist beacon. I went to Valhalla's Rage, a nearby fleet carrier in orbit around one of the black holes, unfortunately cartographics was suspended on this carrier so I would have to sell my data next time.

Deciat to the Coalsack Nebula via HIP 63835; Part 3

This session is starting in Col 285 sector OS-J C9-20 with 32 jumps remaining to HIP 63835. Looking at the galactic map I estimate myself to be about halfway to HIP 63835 and about a quarter of the way to the Coalsack Nebula.

Fuel scooped in Col 285 sector GR-R B19-0, now that I was out of the bubble there wasn't much to do but jump between systems and honk each one but I was still on the lookout for interesting systems. The next system was the opposite of interesting, a lone M class star, I continued on, determined to reach my destination.

The next system had a class M orbited by a class T with a gas giant and several icy bodies so I decided to investigate briefly, I scanned and discovered yet another gas giant with ammonia based life so I decided to do a full scan and check out the giant with ammonia life. The other gas giant was so small I initially mistook it for a large icy body on the system map so I decided to take a look at that while I was en route. The type T was over 300,000 ls away from the main star so getting there took a while. After several minutes I had reached a top speed of 620c and supercruise assist began decelerating with 3mins 40secs left on the timer. After finally reaching there I was massively underwhelmed and if I have known it would take this long I wouldn't have done this. Lessons were learned; always check the distance before making the commitment to travel out to a planet. What was kind of interesting was that these planets were in a state of perpetual night due to their distance from their very dim type T parent star.

I jumped to the next system where I scanned the metallic worlds (for their value when sold to universal cartographics) and fuel scooped (which was desperately needed after my lengthy journey to the type T). After this I ended this session with 26 jumps to HIP 63835.

Deciat to the Coalsack Nebula via HIP 63835; Part 2

This session started in Li Chotep with 43 jumps remaining until I reached HIP 63835.

I fuel scooped while passing through Col 285 sector ZZ-U B17-3 and scanned a rocky-ice body while I was there.

I encountered the Joh system which I decided to investigate further. I did a full FSS scan on the system and found that the main star (Joh A, class K) was orbited by two stars (Joh B and C, class M). There was multiple high metal content and metal rich worlds orbiting Joh A (Joh A1 to A5 and A1a). There was 3 icy bodies orbiting between the three stars (Joh ABC 1 to 3, with methane, neon-rich and helium atmospheres) and two high metal content worlds between B and C (Joh BC 1 and 2). After scanning the system I docked in Thorne Platform to sell some cartographic data and refuel. It was due to this cartographic data that I surpassed 2 million credits, by the end of this journey I will surely have enough to buy an Asp Explorer and outfit for long range exploration.

After my brief stopover in Thorne Platform it was time to go again, now with 37 jumps to HIP 63835. In the HIP 47263 system I found a gas giant with ammonia based life (planet 7), I also found a water world (planet 5) I decided to take a close look at these planets as I had not encountered them before. After taking some pictures I passed through the ring of planet 7 then jumped to Col 285 sector DG-T B16-6 where I fuel scooped. I planned to stop at a station near here but it appears as though I may have left the bubble behind. While fuel scooping a class K star with massive solar arches in Col 285 sector OS-J C9-19 I checked my route and found that I had indeed left the bubble behind in HIP 47263, the next inhabited systems I would encounter would be in the Coalsack Nebula. I decided to end this session in the system I had scooped from and continue my journey further away from civilization at a later time.

Deciat to the Coalsack Nebula via HIP 63835; Part 1

This voyage is being undertaken in a basic sidewinder mk.1 (jump range 8.34ly) equipped with only an extra fuel scoop, this vessel is named the "Corvid". The plan is to reach the Coalsack Nebula while honking every system along the way and documenting any important or interesting events or celestial bodies.

Flew from Deciat to Kilkumao, stopped to sell cartographic data and refuel. Flew to Arawan, stopped to perform a full FSS scan then sold cartographic data and refueled at Morgan Beacon. Scooped fuel while passing Amuzgo star. Fuel scooped in Col 285 sector JM-L CB-16. Docked in Smeaton Settlement in Li Chotep to sell cartographic data and refuel, obtained rank of Surveyor for selling 300,000 credits of data from the Hosus system. Ended the session docked in Smeaton Settlement.
